I am in NY as of now. I am trying to get a head start on all the places around the area of Miami, FL. My price range $1100. It’s very IMPORTANT NOT TO LIVE IN MIAMI/DADE COUNTIES. And also the Loft can’t have any pet restriction. I really like to live in a safe neighborhood.

My wife would be attending graduate school at the University of Miami in Coral Gables. I’m assuming that I’d probably find a job in or near downtown Miami. Where are good, SAFE places to live that are within, say, a 40-minute commute of both these locations? I have two small children, so I’d like to be in an area with good schools (a concern from what I’ve heard about Miami), and that provides age-appropriate activities, such as swimming lessons at a county pool, children’s ballet, playgrounds, etc. Also, I can spend around $550,000-$650,000 on a home. I guess I’m looking for a good place for upper-middle-class working families. Part of the problem is that I don’t know what traffic is like, and how long it will take to get around during rush hour. For instance, would Pembroke Pines be too far? What about Sweetwater or Olympia Heights?
